Canon lens manufacturing process

If you’re a bit of a camera geek (like me), you might have wondered how camera lenses are manufactured, and why they cost so much.

If you have, check out the Canon Camera Museum, where they have a cool little tour of how a EF 500mm f/4L  IS USM lens is manufactured, all the way from mixing the raw materials that makes up the lens elements, to final assembly.

I think it’s pretty cool :-)
